Music is a language that connects us. Songwriting is an art that helps us know ourselves, see each other, and remember our shared humanity. We are a not-for-profit dedicated to spreading appreciation and enjoyment of the singer-songwriter’s craft, live, up close, right here in Champaign-Urbana.
Our Mission
To increase appreciation of songwriting and musical expression by producing and promoting performances by musicians selected for artistic quality and positive human impact; and to support the development of songwriters and musicians creating and performing this music.
Our Programs
We discover and select singer-songwriters and musical artists based on artistic quality and human impact, and book them for live music shows in Champaign-Urbana. We offer affordable ticket prices so local residents can experience these musicians performing up close, in person. We work with local music venues, audio-visual technicians, stage managers, and volunteers to produce these events and strengthen the live music ecosystem in our town.
We support the development of emerging singer-songwriters by offering them a chance to attend our events and perform for our audiences.
Our Team
Our all-volunteer board is Mark Aardsma (President, Treasurer), Jenn Aardsma, Keri Offenstein (Secretary), and Rob Krumm.
Venus Walker helps with office and administration. Cynthia Starns does graphic design.
Our paid staff, the all-over-the-music-scene Charlie Harris handle booking and promotion. Carol Corning is our Marketing and Production Coordinator.
